Therapy for Teens
I have extensive experience working with adolescents and their families in a variety of treatment settings. Over the years, I have worked with teens struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, family conflict, self-esteem concerns, eating disorders, and major life transitions.
Adolescence is a unique and often challenging stage of development. Young people are navigating increasing independence, academic pressures, social relationships, identity development, and the emotional demands of growing up in a rapidly changing world. At times, these challenges can feel overwhelming for both teens and their families.
My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and individualized. I focus on creating a safe, supportive environment where teens feel respected, understood, and empowered. Rather than viewing resistance as a problem to overcome, I work to understand the underlying needs, emotions, and experiences that may be contributing to a young person’s struggles.
Depending on the needs of the adolescent, treatment may incorporate traditional psychotherapy, EMDR, somatic approaches, mindfulness, nervous system regulation skills, and family collaboration when appropriate. My goal is to help teens develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, healthier coping strategies, and a stronger sense of confidence as they navigate this important stage of life.
I feel honored to work with adolescents and their families and to support them during a period of growth, change, and development that can have a lasting impact on their future well-being.
